If you have been following along with my adventures in our garage, you will be excited to see that I have followed up on my threat to stain and detail the work bench. This is all part of my plan to personalize the garage.
Holy cow, it’s already been over SIX MONTHS since we moved into the new house! It really doesn’t seem like that long. If you read my post, when we moved, you will know that I was worried that there wouldn’t be enough new home projects to keep me busy. Ha ha!! Oh yeah, there are projects… [Read more…]
Every now and then I do a project that I really love. This is one of those projects. I did this garden tool storage wall as week 5 of my 6 week yard transformation challenge. Every time I walk into the shed and see this fabulous tool wall, it makes me happy. I’m all for a little extra happy in my life. Here are all the specifics of how I pulled this garden tool storage wall together. And how you can too!
This is my front porch. Not really a porch by Southern standards ;-)but that’s okay, we don’t hang out here much. I won’t be hanging a swing or putting out chairs, but I can add a punch of colour with some well placed flowers. Here’s how I put together my front porch planters. [Read more…]

Garden Tool Storage
This week, I did some work on the shed. Specifically the garden tool storage area. I have seen a few different examples of tool storage walls. This is my version, and it’s my favourite – I LOVE IT!! I will do a detailed tutorial of this project separately. But here are the highlights: [Read more…]
Hi, Hi, Hi,
Welcome to Week 4 of the Yard Transformation challenge, hosted by my friend Nat at Simple family crazy life
I’m super excited to say that we have completed staining our fence!!! Yay. We did this in pieces. I pressure washed portions as I was ready to stain them. I started by doing the hardest parts first. The back fence is shorter, but has that horrible lattice top that I HATE. It’s awful to paint. I had to work around the roses and existing flowers, so I opted to get these parts done first, and saved the panels without any obstructions for last. This is when Greg decided to help with the staining…hmmmm. We ended up going with the BEHR Semi-Transparent Stain. Here are a couple of shots of the finished fence and planters.
Here is what this planter looks like in July when the Lillies are in bloom. This is 2 months after the above photo
Here is the strawberry garden update. We lost 2 of them, but no worries, these guys propagate like crazy, so in a few months this bed should be all filled up. I’ll drop in another update later. Also, it’s super hard to grow grass under here, because it’s always in the shade, so I bought some dense grass seed by Scott’s. Hopefully it will fill in. Stay tuned for updates. By the way I’m thinking about moving the little cherry blossom tree to a better location, I think the original owner planted the tree first, and then added to raised bed after.
I did a quick pop of extra colour by adding this beautiful hanging basket. I may add a couple more. I love these super cool hooks that pop into the top of the post cap.
I will also be adding some instant colour with annuals but haven’t made that trip to the store yet. Right now the yard is FULL of greenery, and I’ just waiting for everything to burst forth!! It should be pretty amazing by week 6!!!!!
It’s a bit of a short update this week. But getting the fence stained used up most of my time. But I have some BIG updates planned for the next 2 weeks. Please come back and check in. It’s really starting to look fabulous in the back yard.
See you next week
